Opportunities Abound—What will you do?

January 2, 2012

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Please contact this office with your commitment to service and ideas for a better Alexandria so our accountability (formerly transition) team can assess our progress and plans for the next three years.

We hope you will continue to support our efforts to make Central Louisiana a better place to live, work, and play.  Our whole parish depends upon Alexandria and Alexandria’s success in turn is driven by the successes of the Parish and region at large.  Sales taxes have been climbing and the general state of the local micro-economy is better this year than the same period last year or the year before.

To all of you wishing to volunteer, contribute, and get involved this year and down the road, of course, you can always be an advocate for our progress by talking to neighbors, family and friends, and by publishing your thoughts in various forms of media.  We also need to begin fundraising activity it takes to run a modern campaign.  We welcome novel concepts on this necessary activity to increase value, fun, and participation by our supporters.

We believe 2012 presents a new set of opportunities for progress.

My family and leadership team at the City are thankful for all of the blessings of 2011, and we look forward to 2012 as ayear of unity and promise.  As many of you have watched, 2011 was a struggle from swearing-in a year ago until the recent shake-up on the Alexandria City Council.  This change led to the appointment of a new District 3 councilperson and change in council leadership—perhaps the most significant opportunity to unite the City’s officialdom in several years.

While there will be challenges, we stand before a “grand” opportunity.  We will need your help more than ever to move the City forward and continue with competent, accountable, and responsive governance, even with these more favorable conditions.  In moments like this, the community should go “all in” and commit to our community—our city.  We need to say “no” to the divisive personalities and those peddling discord, discrimination, and fear.

Please contact us with your commitment to service and ideas for a better Alexandria so our accountability (formerly transition) team can assess our progress and plans for the next three years.

We look forward to seeing you, and thanks againfrom all of us at “Jacques Roy for Mayor.”

Again, we wish you a joyous and prosperous year, and we are committed to Alexandria’s future.
